Title

Consider a resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute an Agreement with US Digital Systems, Inc. for a fire station alerting system.

Body

The purchase and installation of a 911 automated dispatching system will help reduce the amount of time between the dispatch center receiving a call, and notifying the fire and ems units.  This system, after being activated in the Computer Automated Dispatching (CAD) system, will automatically alert the fire units, voicing the incident information such as the type and location of call.  This system will allow the 911 call taker to continue gathering information from the caller, and also provide critical lifesaving instructions to the caller without having to stop to notify the fire units to respond to the incident.  Once the 911 call has been processed, the telecommunicator will notify responding units of additional information and the severity of the call. This agreement will replace our current Motorola Fire Station Alerting system which has become obsolete. No replacement is offered through Motorola, and has a recurring yearly cost of $25,033.00 for support and maintenance.

The recurring cost for the new system will b e $25,574.13 and a one time payment of $401,521.19.
