Title

Consider a resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute a Contract with Patin Construction, LLC for the 2014 Sidewalk Gap Project.

Body

The purpose of the 2014 Sidewalk Gaps Project is to improve pedestrian connectivity by maximizing opportunities for walking, while enhancing: safety, convenience, and strategic improvements, in addition to the expansion of the city’s sidewalk system. A large portion of these proposed sidewalk paths will eliminate spaces, or gaps, between points where permanent sidewalks currently exist and connect citizens to destinations.

The 2014 Sidewalk Gaps Project primarily consists of constructing approximately 5,000 square yards of four foot, and five foot, wide concrete sidewalks along portions of South Mays Street, from West Logan Street to Gattis School Road; sections of Somerset Drive and Peachtree Valley Drive; and segments of Greenlawn Boulevard from Gattis School Road to Dell Way. There will also be modifications to existing driveways, and curb ramps, which fall along the sidewalk path that do not currently meet the regulations outlined in the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

The City of Round Rock Transportation Department advertised the 2014 Sidewalk Gaps Project from 08/27/2016 to 09/17/2016, and held a bid opening on September 21st, 2016. Four (4) sealed bids were received and read aloud. Bids ranged between $431,076.00 and $559,060.00, with an apparent low bid submitted by Patin Construction at $431,076.00.

After careful review, the Transportation Department staff recommends approval of award to Patin Construction for the 2014 Sidewalk Gaps Project.
