Title
Consider a resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute a Contract with D&S Concrete Contractors for the Kensington Channel Improvements Project.

Body
On October 2015, the City executed an Engineering Services Contract with K. Friese and Associates. This contract included the design of a regional stormwater detention pond and channel repairs for the tributary known as Dry Branch Tributary 1 traversing through the Kensington Place Neighborhood. The goal of the analysis and design is to reduce flooding, reduce the erosive velocities, and to provide repairs for three existing concrete drop structures located within the Kensington Channel. The design for this contract has been divided into two categories. The first category is for the analysis and design of the regional stormwater detention pond and the second category is for the design of the channel repairs to the three drop structures located downstream of the proposed pond. The design for the regional detention pond is still being analyzed and will be constructed at a later time.

The proposed work includes the removal of broken concrete riprap, new proposed concrete riprap at the toe of each structure, some regrading of the channel and the installation of dry rock riprap.
