Consider a resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute a Contract with Myers Concrete Construction for the Hester's Crossing Channel Improvements Project.

On July 2016, the City executed an Engineering Services contract with Freese and Nichols, Inc.
This contract included services for the analysis, evaluation and design of stream stabilization to address and repair erosion issues within the existing channel located downstream of the La Frontera Dam on the south side of Hester’s Crossing Road.

The design included erosion repair plans, which include the installation of rock gabion walls, regrading of the channel bed and embankments, rock riprap and the installation of vegetation along the channel bottom.

On December 07, 2016, the City received two bids for the construction of the designed improvements.  Upon checking and tabulation of the bids, Myers Concrete Construction submitted the lowest base bid in the amount of $86,023.97.

During the design of this project, City staff requested the design engineer to include two add alternatives that would extend the limits of the erosion repairs, so that the city could select to install if bids were acceptable to the city and within the project budget. Myers Concrete Construction bid for the Add Alternate No. 1 was $13,388.12 and for Add Alternate No. 2 was $9,638.71. 

The City is recommending contracting with Myers Concrete Construction for the execution of the construction of the Base Bid, Add Alternate No. 1 and 2 for the Hester’s Crossing Channel Improvements project for a total contract award of $109,050.80. The engineer’s construction estimate for the Base Bid and Add Alternate No. 1 and 2 was $125,500.

Cost: $109,050.80
