Consider a resolution authorizing the City Manager to issue a Purchase Order to Vermeer Texas-Louisiana for a Horizontal Grinder and Accessories.

With this purchase order we are replacing a 17 year old Mobark 1200 Tub Grinder with a New Vermeer HG4000 Tier IV Horizontal Grinder. The current condition of our tub grinder is very poor and has been in need of replacement for many years. Because this piece of equipment is so expensive the decision was made to replace other pieces of equipment first. Currently the repairs on this tub grinder are anywhere from $25,000 - $40,000 a year and the estimated value of this tub grinder is $24,000. The reason we have chosen to switch from a tub grinder and purchase a horizontal grinder is because of ease of operations, better quality of product, ease of maintenance, and most importantly the safety aspect of grinding.
