Title

Consider a resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute Amendment No. 1 to the Interlocal Agreement Regarding Use of Construction Cost Savings From Phase 1A of the BCRUA Regional Water Treatment and Distribution Project.

Body

In 2010, the Brushy Creek Regional Utility Authority (BCRUA) Board and the City Councils for Round Rock, Cedar Park, and Leander approved an Interlocal Agreement (ILA) which identified the anticipated cost savings from all Phase 1A construction project contracts. The ILA included an exhibit which outlined and authorized additional related project expenditures (Phase 1B, Phase 2, etc.) that could be funded by portions of the anticipated savings.

The purpose of this resolution is to authorize the BCRUA and the three Cities to execute Amendment No.1 to that 2010 ILA, further clarifying and updating those projects for which the remaining Phase 1A savings may be used. The amendment includes a variety of projects, including continuing Phase 2 related expenditures (e.g., right of way acquisition), and utilization of savings to fund the anticipated design costs for the Phase 1C project, which will increase capacity of the interim floating raw water intake and the regional water treatment plant from 17 to 30 million gallons per day.

The BCRUA board approved Amendment No. 1 to the ILA on December 14, 2016.
