Title

Consider a resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute an Interlocal Agreement with Capital Area Rural Transportation System (CARTS) regarding the occupation and maintenance of the ticketing office in the Downtown Transit Terminal.

Body

A transit office was built at the Transit Center, 300 W. Bagdad Ave., to provide transit information and bus pass sales for the new bus service.  CARTS operates a station in Round Rock on Bowman Drive and CARTS desires to move their operations to the Transit Center to streamline transportation options in Round Rock.  The recognized benefits are 1) optimize the City’s connection to the Greyhound Interstate passenger/packaging network; 2) provide for easier connections to the City’ transit services for the CARTS patrons who need to access services within the City; and 3) provide the City’s residents an avenue to connect with Capital Metro, Austin and all points served by CARTS Interurban network.  In consideration for the use of the office, CARTS will provide a full-time staff person to provide services to the public and will be responsible for payment of all utilities.
