Title
Consider a resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute a Public Highway At-Grade Crossing and Advanced Signal Agreement with Union Pacific Railroad Company for the St. Williams Street Quiet Zone Project.
Body
This agreement with Union Pacific is for the installation of four quad gates with loop detection circuits, new constant warning technology, gates and lights, and advance preemption circuitry. This equipment is necessary to bring this crossing into compliance for the Railroad Quiet Zone.
Upon execution of the agreement a one time payment in the amount of $208,500.00 for railroad maintenance of railroad crossing warning equipment for a 20 year period is due to Union Pacific Railroad. That $208,500 also includes a $1,000.00 administration application charge.
The estimate for the signal work is $730,393.00 and the City is responsible for the actual costs of the construction. Payment is due as Union Pacific Railroad completes the work typically on a monthly basis. This does not include any flagging while construction is under way.
Cost: $208,500.00
