Title

Consider a resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute a Consulting Services Agreement with HOT Inspections Services, Inc. for the Clearwell No. 1 Ground Storage Tank Rehab 2017 Project.

Body

Clearwell No. 1 was constructed in 1981 and is one of two steel ground storage tanks used for chlorine contact time and storage that are located at the Water Treatment Plant (WTP).  This tank was last coated in 2003 and the roof is now in need of replacement because of interior corrosion at the interface of the rafters. Since 1981, a new roof design has been developed that eliminates these interfaces. Replacing the roof and continuing coating replacements will extend the life of the tank for several decades.

HOT Inspection Services, Inc. performed the 2015 Tank Assessment project for the City and has been involved with the welding and coating inspections of Round Rock's steel tanks since the early 1990's. The Utility Staff recommends the City Council  award this contract in the amount of $85,800 to HOT Inspection Services, Inc. to prepare the Project Manual with the necessary welding and coating specifications and to perform daily inspections for the City once the project is awarded to a contractor.

Cost: $85,800
