Title

Consider a resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute a Contract with Prota Construction, Inc. for the Southeast Ground Storage Tank & South 81 Elevated Storage Tank Pump Station Improvement Project.

Body

In 2014, the City updated the Water Distribution System Master Plan which identifies future capital improvement projects for the water system. The Master Plan produced information indicating a need for a pump station to be located at the City's existing S81 Elevated Storage Tank (EST) site which would allow the City to distribute more groundwater into the system from the Lake Creek well site.  In 2015, the City engaged the engineering services of CP&Y to produce a Preliminary Engineering Report (PER) in which the design criteria for the needed pump station was determined.  In addition, the PER evaluated the need for necessary pump and motor control center (MCC) improvements to another storage tank site known as the S81 EST. Final design for improvements at both of these sites was completed by CP&Y earlier this year.

On July 28th, the City opened bids from seven Central Texas contractors ranging from $2,076,000 to $2,676,490 with Prota Construction, Inc. submitting the lowest bid. The Utility staff recommends awarding this contract to Prota Construction, Inc. for $2,076,000.
