Title

Consider a resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute Supplemental Contract No. 1 with CP&Y, Inc. for the Kenney Fort Boulevard (Segments 2 & 3) Project.

Body

This item covers the required engineering design for the water infrastructure associated with the Kenney Fort Segment 2 & 3 roadway. The Kenney Fort Blvd. corridor is an important north/south transportation artery in Round Rock. This arterial roadway has been identified in the City's Master Transportation Plan as a corridor that is essential to the City's long-term growth and continued prosperity. The Master Transportation Plan has determined the ultimate section for this thoroughfare to be a 6-lane divided urban facility. Segment 2 & 3 will extend Kenney Fort Blvd. from Forest Creek Dr. to State Highway 45. This roadway section will provide increased mobility as well as enhance the driving experience in Round Rock. This segment of roadway is being proposed as a stand-alone project and is only one part of a multi-segment multi-phase vision to construct a north/south arterial from the City's northern boundary to State Highway 45 to the south. The roadway engineering design contract was awarded by City Council to CP&Y, Inc. on February 11, 2016 for $933,519.78

The Utility Staff recognizes the necessity to construct approximately 8,000 feet of 12-inch waterline along the length of the new roadway for the future demands to undeveloped land parcels. The project will also include the construction of sleeves across Kenney Fort Blvd. and the construction of a 12" waterline along the State Highway 45 West Bound Frontage Road and a 16" waterline along Gattis School Road. The Utility Staff requests the City Council to approve Supplemental Agreement No.1 with CP&Y for $135,900 for these waterline improvements.

Cost: $135,900
