Title
Consider a resolution authorizing the City Manager to issue a Purchase Order to Bound Tree Medical for the purchase of Opioid kits for the Fire Department.
Body
Round Rock, Texas is one of the fastest growing, safest, and most caring cities in the nation. Our community is just north of Austin and, like most other major metropolitan areas, we have seen an increase in the number of opioid overdoses and deaths. The Round Rock Fire Department, city leaders, and our Williamson County Emergency Services partners are determined to create an overdose awareness, prevention, intervention, and treatment response plan as a part of our comprehensive Community Risk Reduction program. Opioid Emergency Response Pilot Grant through Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC Opioid Response Contract Attachment A) states “Purchase and have available for distribution, on or before April 30, 2018, supplies that aid in reducing opioid overdose risk including but not limited to overdose reversal kits that include overdose reversal medications and fentanyl testing supplies.” This is the purchase of the said supplies to distribute to Williamson County Area first responders, law enforcement, and EMS. It also includes Kits for Round Rock Citizens who have family members with opioid addiction, and previous over doses to intervene. Total amount of Purchase is $749,440.38 fully funded through the $1,575,000.00 HHSC Opioid Emergency Response Pilot Grant.
