Consider a resolution authorizing the City Manager to issue a Purchase Order to Motorola for replacement radios and accessories for the Fire Department.

 

Body

 The requested purchase is for the replacement of the Fire Departments existing XTL/XTS Motorola radios, and upgrade to the Apex line. Motorola will discontinue the XTL/XTS line of Public safety radios in 2018. The last production run was in 2013, and after 2018 it will no longer provide support, or parts for those radios. This replacement is occurring throughout Public safety agencies at various rates. RRPD is going into its fourth year of their replacement schedule. We will still get support from Wilco Radio shop, and also have enough replacement parts to suffice till our completion of the radios replacements. This the second year of the approved FY17 new program (3) Yr. replacement program: $368,000.00 per year.
