Consider a resolution requesting the Texas Department of Transportation to transfer the jurisdiction and conveyance of right-of-way for portions of North Mays Street and FM 3406 to the City.

City Representatives from Administration and Transportation have been in discussions with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) regarding the transfer of jurisdiction and the conveyance of the right-of-way for portions of N. Mays St. and the entirety of FM 3406. The result of these discussions is staff has found it in the best interest of the City to request the transfer of jurisdiction and the right-of-way of these roadways. This action would result in the City having permanent jurisdiction and maintenance responsibility for these segments of roadway. There are certain improvements that TxDOT is performing prior to the city taking the maintenance responsibility as per the attached Resolution. Staff recommends that Council approve the Resolution and authorize the Mayor to execute the Resolution and engage TxDOT's process to make this assumption of
roadway's permanent.
There are no initial costs related to this Resolution but long term maintenance of the roadways will become a City responsibility.
