Title

Consider a resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute a Contract with Oldcastle Materials for the 2017 Street Maintenance Program- Project 6 Residental Type F and Industrial Type C Overlays Project.

 

Body

The City of Round Rock manages more than 1,150 lane miles of roadways within its jurisdiction.  In order to preserve, and/or improve , the conditions of existing roadways, the City has developed a Street Maintenance Program (SMP).  This program allows the City to monitor the state of its roadways  and systematically repair, and/or overlay our city streets.

 

The 2017 Street Maintenance Program - Project 6  - Residential Type F and Industrial Type C Overlays project will provide a long lasting and durable driving surface for the specific streets within the designated residential and industrial areas.  This project includes various curb and gutter, sidewalk, driveway, curb ramp and pavement repairs; pavement milling; approximately 20,000 tons of  one-inch (1") Type F HMAC overlay and approximately 10,000 tons of  three-inch (3") Type C HMAC overlay.

 

Bids for the above referenced project were opened on September 5, 2018 at 2:00 p.m.  Four (4) responsive bid proposals were received.  The bids were opened and read aloud.  Each submittal was checked for the inclusion of the Statement of Bidder’s Safety Experience and bid guarantee.  The total bid prices ranged from $3,852,000.00 to $4,642,500.00. 

 

 Oldcastle Materials $3,852,000.00

 Alpha Paving  $3,862,100.00

 Lone Star Paving $4,192,680.00

 Austin Materials $4,642,500.00

 

Oldcastle Materials is the apparent low bidder.  The engineer’s opinion of probable construction cost for this project was $4,214,150.00.  Based upon review of the Bid Tabulation, the Transportation Department recommends the City of Round Rock approval of award to Oldcastle Materials in the amount of $3,852,000.00
