Title

Consider a resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute Quantity Adjustment/Change Order No. 1 with Oldcastle Materials for the 2017 Street Maintenance Program Residential Type F Overlay - Project 1.

Body

The City of Round Rock manages more than 1,150 lane miles of roadways within its jurisdiction.  In order to preserve, and / or improve, the conditions of existing roadways, the City has developed a Street Maintenance Program (SMP).  This program allows the City to monitor the state of its roadways and systematically repair, and / or overlay our city streets.  The 2017 Street Maintenance Program Residential Type F Overlay Project provides a long lasting and durable driving surface for the specific streets within Chisholm Valley, Round Rock West and the South Central Region of Round Rock. On October 12, 2017, the City recommended award of this project's construction contract to Oldcastle Materials in the amount of $3,290,450.00.

Quantity Adjustment / Change Order (QA/CO) No. 1 in the amount of $266,273.13 is due to the addition and deletion of quantities within the project scope at the City’s request.  These quantity adjustments include the extension of the project limits and the addition of 23 streets including HMAC overlay, edge milling, manhole adjustments, removal and replacement of concrete driveways, and extension of contract time (additional 90 days) and traffic control duration.  Negative quantity adjustments were made for repairs initially estimated, but not required, comprised of pavement repairs, surface milling, level up, valve can adjustments, removal and replacement of concrete curb and gutter, sidewalk ramps, and valley gutters.  The Transportation Department recommends approval of QA/CO No. 1 with Oldcastle Materials in the amount of $266,273.13.  The total contract amount with this quantity adjustment will be $3,556,723.13.
