Title

Consider a resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute a Memorandum of Understanding with ICU Medical Fleet Services, LLC related to the University Bouelvard improvements project.

Body

In order to help accommodate some of the City's growing traffic issues multiple roadway widening projects are slated and University Boulevard is among them. In this corridor traffic has continued to increase due to large amounts of retail shopping in the area. The roadway project that has been under design since 2016 to help alleviate some of this congestion is the University Widening Project and within this project the City needed to acquire ROW to accommodate the widening. One of these areas is at the ICU site or the old Pfizer Building and some may know it as the old Hospira Building.

In order to build the roadway as proposed we will need to have the ICU Medical Fleet Services reconfigure their building to move their loading docks from the east side of the existing building to the south side of the building, to modify their parking lot, and perform some structural modifications to the building and do a land exchange with the City. The City has met with ICU personnel several times to discuss this and ICU is supportive.

The land exchange is approximately 0.5 acres. This Memo of Understanding (MOU) is to help clarify and execute three phases of the agreement. Phase I is the exploratory phase, Phase II is the construction phase and the third Phase is the transfer phase.

The City will pay ICU $230,000.00 an amount not to exceed for Phase I, which will provide engineering and architectural services to prepare the necessary plans.
