Title

Consider a resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute a Contract with Santa Clara Construction, Ltd. for the DB Wood & SH 29 Raw Water Line Relocation Project.

Body

This Construction Contract is necessary for the relocation of approximately 2,400 linear feet of 30-inch raw waterline that is located within the TxDOT Right of Way (ROW) on the south side of State Highway 29 near DB Wood Road in Georgetown, Texas.  The City of Round Rock has two raw waterlines that convey raw water from Lake Georgetown to the City’s water treatment plant located near Westinghouse Road.  One of the raw waterlines was installed in 1995 is located in the State Highway 29 ROW.  Williamson County, in conjunction with TxDOT, is widening State Highway 29 near DB Wood Road and the present location of our 30-inch raw waterline would be located beneath the curb and gutter in conflict with the new storm sewer assignment.  With this construction contract, Round Rock will relocate the raw water line into an exclusive waterline utility easement outside of TxDOT’s ROW on the south side of State Highway 29.

On November 9th, the City received eight bids ranging from a low bid of $1,437,294 to a high bid of $1,730,267.75.  The Utility Staff recommends the Mayor authorize the City to enter a contract with the lowest bidder, Santa Clara Construction, Ltd., for $1,437,294.

Cost: $1,437,294
