We have five standby generators up for replacement for the Utility Department. One is located at the water treatment plant and the other four are in the Forest Creek area. All five generators have low hours but are quite old. The recommended replacement for generators is 15 years and these generators range from 19 years old to 26 years old. The issues that we are running into with such old equipment is that we are unable to find replacement parts or if we are able to find the parts they sometimes take months to get in. A piece of equipment that sits and is not used much will degrade and wear out from lack of use.
