This resolution calls a general election for Saturday, May 4, 2019 to elect Councilmembers for Place 2 and Place 6. The filing period for this election began January 16th and runs through 5:00 p.m. on Friday, February 15th. The statutory deadline for calling the election is Friday, February 15th. This resolution only calls the election to meet the statutory requirement.
Another item for consideration on this City Council agenda is regarding the election services contract and joint election agreement with Williamson County and Williamson County participating entities. Staff will bring a joint election agreement Travis County participating entities at a later date. We have a multi-year agreement with Travis County for Election Services.
The total cost of this election is estimated around $50,000 but will depend on the number of entities participating in each county. The costs are made up of the election services costs to each county, the cost of publishing the election and translation services
