Title

Consider a resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute a Contract with Texas Materials for the 2017 Street Maintenance Program University Boulevard Surface Treatment Project.

 

Body

The City of Round Rock manages more than 1,150 lane miles of roadways within its jurisdiction. In order to preserve, and/or improve , the conditions of existing roadways, the City has developed a Street Maintenance Program (SMP). This program allows the City to monitor the state of its roadways and systematically repair, and/or overlay our city streets.

 

The 2017 Street Maintenance Program - Project 7 - University Boulevard Surface Treatment project will provide a long lasting and durable driving surface for this roadway. This project includes a small amount of pavement repair and approximately 4,550 tons of one and one half-inch (1 1/2") Type D HMAC overlay.

 

Bids for the above referenced project were opened on January 9th, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. Four (4) responsive bid proposals were received. The bids were opened and read aloud. Each submittal was checked for the inclusion of the Statement of Bidder’s Safety Experience and bid guarantee. The total bid prices ranged from $373,500.00 to $494,700.00.

 

Texas Materials Group $373,500.00

Austin Materials $397,650.00

Alpha Paving $430,000.00

Lone Star Paving $494,700.00

 

Texas Materials Group is the apparent low bidder. The engineer’s opinion of probable construction cost for this project was $511,750.00. Based upon review of the Bid Tabulation, the Transportation Department recommends the City of Round Rock approval of award to Texas Materials Group in the amount of $373,500.00
