Title
Consider a resolution authorizing the City Manager to issue a Purchase Order to Howden Roots, LLC for the purchase of an upgraded Turblex Blower for the Brushy Creek Regional Wastewater System Treatment Plant.
Body
The City of Round Rock Utilities and Environmental Services Department is currently in the design phase of the Brushy Creek Regional Wastewater System (BCRWWS) East Wastewater Treatment Plant Expansion project. Part of the wastewater treatment process requires oxygen to the aeration basin which is provided by several blowers. These blowers are crucial pieces of equipment within the wastewater treatment plant.
One of the current Turblex aeration blowers is old and at risk of failure during power surges. To minimize the risk of failure, an upgrade to the blower is necessary.
The Utilities and Environmental Services Department agrees with the expansion design engineer, Alan Plummer and Associates, and requests the allocation of funds for the upgrade or “rerate” of one of the existing Turblex aeration blowers.
The cost of the upgrade to the blower is $116,240 and Round Rock’s portion is 12%, which is $13,948.80.
Cost: $116,240
