Title

Consider a resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute Quantity Adjustment/Change Order No. 2 with T. Morales Company Electric & Controls, Ltd. for the Water Treatment Plant & Lake Georgetown Pump & Power Modifications Project.

Body

The Water Treatment Plant (WTP) & Lake Georgetown Pump & Power Modification Project includes work at both the WTP High Service Pump Station and the Lake Georgetown Raw Water Pump Station. Most of the electrical equipment at the pump station has reached the end of its design life, and the manufacturer no longer supports it. The goal of this project was to replace the obsolete electrical equipment at the pump station, add an automatic transfer switch to the existing generators at each site, and various electrical improvements.

During excavation, the contractor uncovered existing duct banks and underground piping that interfere with the designed location for the new electrical building and duct banks. The building must be re-positioned further to the west lengthening all the associated electrical duct banks.  The cost of the increased excavation and additional duct bank lengths is $268,146.

At the Lake Georgetown Raw Water Pumping Station, the existing control wires for pumps seven through nine began shorting out causing pump failures.  The cost of their replacement is $13,787.

The work in Change Order No. 1 provided temporary backup power for pumps, SCADA, and controls at the WTP. Change Order No. 2 includes wire cable for backup power should there be a power failure during construction at the Raw Water Pump Station. This additional electrical wiring cost is $17,266.

Change Order No. 2 for $299,259 is the sum of these three items, which modifies the contract amount to $6,618,779.94.

Cost: $299,159
