Consider a resolution authorizing the submittal of a grant application for Federal Transit Authority Section 5310 funds in the amount of $70,000 for purchase and installation of five (5) bus shelters.
Body
The 5310 program is intended to enhance mobility for seniors and person with disabilities. Bus stops are a key link in the journey of a bus rider, for people with disabilities and elderly persons. Inaccessible bus stops often limit their mobility and potentially lead to increased paratransit use, resulting in additional costs
The bus shelter project is eligible for 5310 funding as it will provide improvements to the fixed route system. This project will concentrate on installing shelters at five (5) of the stops.
Recipients for the grant funding will be selected by CAMPO and Capital Metro will serve as the program administrator.
Total Grant Funds requested is $70,000. The City's matching requirement is $17,500.
