This item authorizes the City to execute a construction contract for the Heritage Trail West Project. Three responsive bids were received, with Prime Construction Company being the lowest responsible bidder. The contract will include the base bid, which is the construction of the trail and a few ancillary items, in the amount of $5,318,901.27. Additionally, it is recommended to award several alternate items to better tell the history of Round Rock and support the vision of trail. These alternates total $1,955,721.71, for a total contract value of $7,274,622.98.
The Heritage Trail project includes a 10' wide trail detailing the history of Round Rock as a timeline. The project spans from Bathing Beach at Chisholm Trail Road to Mays St and include improvements at Bathing Beach Park, Chisholm Trail Crossing Park, and Memorial Park. The programmatic elements of the project will include historical elements, educational elements, arts & cultural elements, general park elements and elements that encourage community events and development revitalization along the corridor.
