Consider a resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute a Funding Approval/Agreement with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development related to the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Funds for 2020-2021.

The Community Development Block Grant Program (CDBG) was developed in 1974 and works to ensure affordable housing and to provide services to the most vulnerable in our communities.
CDBG is an important tool to address the serious challenges facing our community. To be eligible for CDBG funding, activities must meet one of the three national objectives of the program: 1) benefit low to moderate income persons; 2) prevent slum and blight; or 3) meet an urgent need.
This resolution will authorize the Mayor to execute a Funding Approval Agreement with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Community Development Block Grant Funds for the Program Year 2020-2021 in the amount of $675,500. These documents constitute the contract between the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and the City of Round Rock for use of Community Development Block Grant Funds.
The 2020-2021 Program Year is the Second Year in the 2019-2023 Five Year Consolidated Plan. In this 2020-2021 Program Year Annual Action Plan, funds are allocated to Public Services, Neighborhood/Public Facility Improvements, Minor Home Repair, Code Enforcement and Program Administration. The 2020-2021 Annual Action Plan was approved by City Council Resolution No. R-2020-0205 on July 23, 2020.
