Consider a resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute a Contract for Engineering Services with Kasberg, Patrick & Associates, LP for the Cycle 3 - Basin 4 and 5 - Wastewater Main Rehabilitation Project.

The City is required to evaluate the wastewater system inside the Edwards Aquifer recharge zone every five years to comply with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality requirements. The elimination of defects inside the Edwards Aquifer recharge zone will not only help to protect the Edwards Aquifer, but will also reduce inflow and infiltration entering the City's wastewater collection system, thereby reducing the City's treatment cost.
The City has broken up the Edwards Aquifer recharge zone into five wastewater basins. Each basin contains numerous sub-basins. The City has recently completed the inspection of 14 sub-basins that are located in two of the wastewater basins, to determine the areas that require rehabilitation.
This engineering contract for $51,630 is for the evaluation of the inspections and to determine a rehabilitation method. A supplemental contract for the construction plans and specifications for rehabilitation will be initiated after evaluation.
