Title

Consider a resolution authorizing the submittal of a grant application for funding from the Office of the Governor, Criminal Justice Division, for the General Victim Assistance Program.

Body

The Police Department seeks to apply for a one year continuation grant for the Texas Office of the Governor General Victim Assistance Grant that we were originally awarded for 2019-2020.  This grant was used to hire two full time Victim Advocates that provide direct services to crime victims and work regionally with other crime victim groups and agencies.

This grant is a one-year application for $120,641.60 in grant funding, with the City being responsible for a 20% match of $30,160.40. We are seeking grant funds for personnel costs, software maintenance, supplies and training.

Under CAPCOG’s current rules, the City would be eligible to apply for fourth-year funding next year.

Cost: $150,802

Source of Funds: General Fund
