Title

Consider a resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute a Contract for Engineering Services with BGE, Inc. for the 1 Million Gallon Reuse Ground Storage Tank Project.

Body

The City of Round Rock currently owns and operates a Reuse Water Treatment Facility at the East Brushy Creek Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant.  In 2011, the City of Round Rock constructed a one million gallon reuse water ground storage tank as part of the construction of the overall reuse water treatment facility.

The City has seen a large growth in demand for reuse water over the past few years. This demand currently strains the existing reuse water system at peak flow rates. In order to meet the needs of the reuse system, Round Rock is proposing to increase the treated storage capacity of the reuse system with a second one-million gallon ground storage tank.  Additional storage in the reuse water system will allow the system to handle higher peak flow rates, and allow for steady-state operation of the Reuse Water Treatment Facility.

The Utilities and Environmental Services Department is recommending approval of a $215,306 contract with BGE, Inc. for the engineering design and bid phases services associated with this project.
