With this purchase order, General Services will establish a one-time purchase with Holt Caterpillar of Texas, LTD for one (1) excavator and one (1) back-hoe loader needed to support City operations. These items were both identified for replacement due to age, maintenance cost and excessive downtime. They are both eighteen (18) years old and the maintenance and repair cost has exceeded 61% of new replacement cost. Over the past two (2) years, this unit has been out of service more than seventy-five (75) days per year. The outgoing back-hoe loader has been removed from service due to a failed transmission. The replacement transmission cost would exceed thirty thousand dollars ($30,000). For the last two years this unit has been out of service an average of forty-three (43) days per year.
This contract was established through a competitively solicited cooperative process.
