Title
Consider a resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute a Contract with SKE Construction, LLC for the Greenhill Asbestos-Cement Waterline Pipe Bursting Project.
Body
The City of Round Rock has a water line replacement program that targets water lines based on their age, history of leaks, breaks, and other problems. Replacing these aging water lines with modern materials ensures safe and reliable delivery of drinking water to the residents of Round Rock.
The City has elected to replace water lines using pre-chlorinated pipe bursting. This technique allows less impact to City customers by minimizing the time individual water lines are out-of-service. To date, the City has completed eight projects which have replaced approximately 108,500 linear feet (L.F.) of existing water lines.
This proposed project will consist of replacing approximately 14,356 L.F. of 6-inch, 8-inch, and 12-inch asbestos-cement (A/C) water lines with same size high-density polyethylene pipe in the Greenhill subdivisions. These lines installed in the 1970s have a history of breaks and are near the end of their estimated life expectancy.
The Utility Staff is requesting a Purchase Order in the amount of $2,022,746.67 for a Buy Board contract with SKE Construction, LLC which has completed several A/C water line replacement projects for the City.
