Consider an ordinance amending Chapter 42, Section 42-285, Code of Ordinances (2018 Edition), prohibiting through commercial trucks on a portion of Texas Avenue and on a portion of Country Aire Drive. (Second Reading)

The eastward extension of Texas Avenue from Greenhill Drive to the Chapel Hill North neighborhood is a beneficial connection for drivers coming into and out of the neighborhood. It has also opened up adjacent land for the development of light industrial uses. As a result, there has been an increase in truck traffic through the neighborhood traveling down Country Aire Drive to Sunrise Road. The neighborhood streets were not designed for the larger vehicles that are curently using it as a cut-through between Sunrise Road and Greenhill Drive. The proposed ordinance amendment will prohibit such truck traffic.
