Title

Consider a resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute a Standard Utility Agreement with Texas Department of Transportation to construct a waterline extension along the northbound frontage road of IH-35 between Greenlawn Boulevard and State Highway 45.

Body

This Standard Utility Agreement between the City of Round Rock and the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is for the construction of a waterline extension along the northbound frontage road of IH-35.

This project will be constructed by TxDOT, which is currently developing the TxDOT Mobility 35 Project (CapEx-North Section).  As the waterline betterment exists within the TxDOT Mobility 35 Project area, TxDOT has agreed to orchestrate construction of the waterline betterment. The agreement states that the City of Round Rock will fund the construction costs for the waterline betterment that extends along the eastern side of I-35 between Greenlawn Boulevard and State Highway 45. The waterline extension project is for the installation of a 12-inch waterline that will connect two existing waterlines by filling in a 700 linear foot gap near Whittlesey Landscape. The installation of this new waterline will allow for better water circulation, offer additional resiliency, and provide service to future developments.

Round Rock Utility Staff previously selected Volkert, Inc. to complete the design of this waterline. The total cost of the construction for the City of Round Rock Waterline Betterment is $226,371.19, listed in the agreement to be paid to the Texas Department of Transportation.
