Consider a resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute an Engineering Services Contract with LJA Engineering, Inc. for the Round Rock West Area 5 - Water, Wastewater and Storm Drain Improvements.

The City previously performed an analysis and drainage assessment of the Round Rock West Neighborhood. This area has a history of local drainage issues and flooding as identified by residents, property owners, and City staff.
Under the previous drainage assessment, the City identified and quantified local flooding and determine the level of service provided by the existing drainage infrastructure. A hydraulic 2D model was developed that identified potential flooded habitable structures and flood inundation areas outside of public ROW. After the existing analysis was performed, preliminary concept flood mitigation solutions along with rough cost estimates were developed for each of the areas showing drainage issues. This contract includes services for designing a solution to these drainage issues within Area 5 of the neighborhood.
Other utilities within the area were also evaluated, and it was determined that the existing water and wastewater systems within the project limits are near the end of their service life and require replacement of all the existing lines and services. The scope of replacing all water lines, wastewater lines and all service connections have been added to the overall scope of services and are included as part of this contract.
This contract is for professional engineering services to design a solution for the existing drainage issues along with the design of new water and wastewater lines. The scope of services for this contract includes surveying, engineering analyses, design, permitting, preparation of construction drawings, bid and construction phase services.
Cost: $365,901.25
