Consider a resolution approving the updated Public Transportation Agency Safety Plan (PTASP).
Background: Through the MAP-21 Act (2012) and the FAST Act (2015) Congress required operators of public transportation systems who receive Federal Transit Administration (FTA) funds to develop and implement a Public Transportation Agency Safety Plan (PTASP). The City approved the original plan on June 11, 2020.
The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law was passed in November of 2021 to provide appropriations for transit and it also added several new requirements which required the City to update the Transit Safety Plan.
The new requirements differ depending on the size of the urbanized area. As a small urban we were required to include language to minimize exposure to the public and personnel to infectious disease and to included input from frontline employees.
