Title

Consider a resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute an Agreement with Thalle Construction Co., Inc. for the repair of a 24-inch wastewater main at Greenlawn Boulevard and Gattis School Road.

Body

In May 2021, the Brushy Creek Regional Wastewater System's (BCRWWS) collection system experienced a significant increase in flows to the treatment facility.  All the partner Cities investigated wastewater lines to identify large inflow and infiltration sources that would be causing the problem. Three significant leaks were found and repaired under an emergency contract arrangement with Thalle Construction in April 2022 on this interceptor. The leaks were found on the 24-inch wastewater main located at the southeast corner of the intersection of Greenlawn Boulevard and Gattis School Road. The repairs were considered an emergency and Thalle Construction was able to mobilize quickly to make all three repairs, including one under the bridge on Greenlawn Boulevard.

This regional wastewater line is co-owned by the City of Round Rock, who has 55 percent of the capacity, and the City of Austin, who has the remaining 45 percent of the capacity.  The City is requesting approval of this contract with Thalle Construction for $115,287.51.  Since Round Rock owns 55 percent of the capacity in this interceptor, Round Rock's share of the cost is $63,408.13.

Cost: $115,287.51

Source of Funds: Regional Wastewater Projects
